Meghan Herwig is Assistant Professor of Humanities in the Hamilton Center for Classical and Civic Education. Her research is interested in how international political relations and the world economy influence each other, and in the historical development of the U.S.-China relationship. Previously, she worked in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of International Affairs.
Herwig is currently working on her first book, a history of the domestic and international political debates over trade in the United States, Western Europe, and East Asia between the 1970s and 1990s. By explicating these debates, her research examines the origins of the early 21st century’s open world economy.
